Q: What are some of your most memorable or favorite trips?
A: My favorite trip was an African Safari to Kenya. The Mt. Kenya Safari Club resort has a fireplace in every room and beautiful views of the mountains, and the original Stephanie Powers animal orphanage is there. So much fun to walk around with the wild animals, holding a bush baby, feeding the monkeys and you can even ride a huge 100 year old turtle. The photo Safari is a wonderful experience, seeing zebras, elephants, and lions. We took the super highway to Masai Mara game reserve and stopped along the way to visit a village. We toured the village and saw the huts that they leaved in and the beautiful jewelry they made and wore. Next we flew to the Samburu game reserve and in the morning they told us we were going to a hippo breakfast, we thought large breakfast, but when we arrived the breakfast tables were all set up next to the pool of water with hippo’s. It was an amazing experience.

Another experience on the safari is the tented camps, better than some hotel rooms. The tents have ceiling fans, lights, mahogany four posted beds, marble bathrooms, swimming pools and private balcony with monkeys in the trees.
My favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean. They have so much to do onboard the cruise: mini-golf, rock climbing, waiveflow rider, shuffleboard, basketball, and lots of games, great calypso music and dancing. The ports-of-call on an Eastern Caribbean Cruise are fabulous: St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St Croix, San Juan and more, lots of shopping, and the best jewelry around. I’ll never forget Grand Cayman and swimming with the sting rays.

Q: Describe the internet arm of the company. How does that fit in to the overall vision?
A: The internet portion of the company specializes in business-to-business services within the travel industry. For example, if an agency has a website, they need someone to do the ticketing, which is where we come in. We are able to make sure their customer is getting the lowest fare, book the seating assignments, process the airline tickets, send email confirmations to their customers and do the final finishing. We also have a corporate booking engine tool that allows an agency’s corporate accounts to book travel services quickly and easily, in a secure online environment. Our booking tool is linked to the agency’s web-site, where their customers can make airline, hotel or rental car reservations, and can create their own profiles, saving all their frequent flyer numbers, hotel IDs, and rental car IDs.

Q: Describe some recent travel trends you’ve seen. What new developments is the travel industry seeing right now?
A: Lot's of people that were booking on line are dissatisfied with the booking process and the time it takes to do all the research. Those people are coming back to our brick and mortar business. We can accommodate them both online and off.

Q: What piece of advice would you give to your business-to-business clients right now?
A: Outsourcing can be very cost effective for companies who just want to focus on their core competencies. One of our clients, the second largest convention housing corporation in the United States saved a quarter million dollars last year by outsourcing fulfillment to Salentine.
